At Southern Lights Dressage we value the health and emotional welfare of both the horse and rider. We believe that training for horse and rider should be fun and low stress. Our trainer, Amber Kimball has had success training and showing various breeds of horses from Training Level to Grand Prix. She has achieved her USDF Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and has also coached many riders through their journeys of obtaining their USDF Bronze and Silver medals. Amber spent 13 years as a working student, learning from national dressage team members, before starting Southern Lights Dressage.
For lower level riders looking for a high quality lesson with an economical price point, we also offer lessons with USDF L Grad, Tara Manion. Tara is excited to share her enthusiasm for dressage with her students.
We offer full or partial training board, board with lesson packages and trailer-in lessons at our 20 acre, Morriston, Florida facility. We have a regulation size, covered arena with irrigated, GGT footing and lights. Our farm also has a 180x200 laser leveled turf arena with LED flood lights. Our lights allow us to ride in the cooler hours in the heat of the summer and offer more riding time flexibility to our working clients.
Your boarded horse will enjoy a 12x12 stall, cleaned twice daily, and individual turnout. Flies are controlled inside the barn by our overhead misting system. Each stall has a wall mounted, enclosed motor fan for safely cooling horses on hot summer days. Our grass paddocks are fenced individually, with 14 feet between paddocks to avoid rough play between horses over fence lines. For horses who find large paddock turnout stressful, we have two small sand paddocks attached to the barn with stall access.
High quality, orchard and/or alfalfa hay is available to the horses at all times when stabled and outdoors when grass is dormant. Premium concentrate feeds from KER and Hallway are fed three times daily. We happily feed owner provided supplements.
Our feed and supplements are stored in our climate controlled feed room to avoid spoilage. Application and removal of turnout boots, blankets, stable wraps and fly masks is included. Self serve use of our TheraPlate and BEMER blanket are also part of our boarding package.
The perimeter of our 20 acre property is kept mowed for hacking. Two sides are lined with grand daddy oaks to shade your ride on hot days. Our half mile driveway also offers a nicely shaded hacking opportunity.
Our comfortable, fully climate controlled tack room is appointed with padded saddle racks, built in cupboards for client use, and a fridge stocked with complimentary beverages. Clean saddle pads and towels are always available for clients as well. The stable has a climate controlled restroom.
Clients may use the vet, farrier and equine body work professionals of their choice.

Western dressage lessons are also offered on any breed of horse. Amber is a graduate of Western Dressage Association of America's "Train the Trainers".

Any lesson cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson time will be subject to the full lesson fee. Exceptions only made for unsafe weather conditions.
